 With the slogan “Travel globally, eat locally” Taste Atlas released the list of “Best Traditional Food in the World 2022”.

Brazil: 4 award-winning dishes

Annually, the site recognizes the 100 best-evaluated foods worldwide, and, in 2022, Brazil guaranteed 4 dishes on the select list. One of them got the second position in the ranking.

In the score of 1 to 5, the Brazilian “picanha” received a score of 4.86 and secured the silver, being behind “Caré”, a Japanese delicacy evaluated with 4.92. It was close to Brazil winning the gold!

In addition to the famous “picanha”, the other three awarded national dishes were:

  • Feijão Tropeiro – something like “Cowboy Beans”
  • Stew
  • Vaca Atolada (in English "Swamped Cow” is a typical countryside dish that consists of beef ribs and cassava, also known as manioc, stew style. It is considered a typical dish of Minas Gerais cuisine.

National restaurants at the top of the list

Another point to celebrate is the placement of four Brazilian restaurants in the list of “Best and most reliable local restaurants in the world”, also published by Taste Atlas.

This ranking is based on recommendations from food guides and critics and public reviews on Google.
